Salem

Salem Academy Charter School began in 2002 with a collection of Salem residents—-parents, teachers, business leaders, civic leaders, and educational experts—-dedicated to solving the challenge of providing high quality educational options to Salem's diverse middle and high school student body. This volunteer founding group was drawn together by a shared commitment to education and a belief that students can be best prepared for their futures—both academically and socially—through a rigorous educational program that stresses the importance of community and allows students to apply their learning in context. Chartered in February, 2003, Salem Academy Charter School opened in September, 2004 with 88, 6th and 7th graders and will grow by 2008 to its full capacity of 308 6th-12th graders

Our mission

The Salem Academy Charter School is a small 6th to 12th grade public school designed to educate the City of Salem’s diverse student population. Through a unique integration of college preparatory classes with service to the community, we graduate informed, articulate and proactive individuals of strong character.
