In 1981 a group of international parents started the American School of Bombay with just 12 students in a room at the Consulate of the United States of America. The idea was to offer an educational program that helped students make an easier transition from one international setting to another. As the school grew and the expatriate population continued to grow, it became evident a new facility was needed. In November 1998 the school moved to its own new premises in the Mumbai suburb of Bandra.
ASB is now a completely recognized international school, having received full accreditation from Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States. It is also accredited by the Commission of International and Trans Regional Accreditation. ASB is among a select group of IB World Schools offering the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program.
Here we are today, a school of just over 470 students, an IB World School, integrating our learning accelerator laptop program to serve students from over 40 nationalities with an exceptional faculty recruited locally and from all around the world. The future of ASB is very bright as we grow in sophistication, diversity, and excellence. ASB is committed to continuous improvement, which results in our ability to exceed the expectations of the students and parents we serve.
