The role of the Point Person is one that is vital when it comes to schools communicating with Veracross. Point Persons bridge the gap between schools and Account Managers. They are the individuals who work closely with Account Managers to ensure all Veracross software is operating at its best at their facility. These individuals also work with their own schools to troubleshoot any minor issues that may occur.
JoAnne Holland has been a Point Person at The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut for four years. Over the course of her time as a Point Person, JoAnne has learned a few tips and tricks for how to perform her role to the best of her ability.
Veracross had the opportunity to talk with JoAnne a bit about what advice she’d give to a new Point Person just starting out.

What advice would you give to a New Point Person?
- Have a “champion” in every department—best advice given by Veracross.
- Know what you want when requesting new/custom features—is it worth it? Try to objectively assess what you need/want, and try not to do things “because we always did it that way.” Easier said than done, but be mindful of new ways to solve old problems.
- Think about how things will be when/if you leave—don’t do something that only you understand, and that someone else would never understand. There are a couple of things that I am now “undoing” because I realize they might not make sense to someone taking over or coming in sometime in the future.
- Get everyone excited about Veracross! If you have someone negative, take them aside and let them know that it’s important that everyone is on board!
