Director of People and Benefits


Veracross is seeking an experienced Director of People and Benefits to join our team. The Director of People and Benefits will report to the CEO and will be responsible for building the human resources function which includes but is not limited to improving benefit administration, implementing a performance management system, promoting personal and professional growth, establishing policies and procedures, and maintaining compliance to ultimately help support and drive the company’s strategy, objectives, and culture. The People and Benefits Manager will partner with the management team in the continued profitable growth of the company

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role in human resources administration within the technology sector. Must have experience reporting to C-level executives.
  • Experience in small to midsize software companies with less than 500 employees in a growth pattern.
  • Strong knowledge of benefit administration, compensation strategy, performance management, employee relations, and safety practices, and the ability to apply this information in a manner that is compliant with relevant employment law.
  • Proven experience in studying and assessing benefit needs and trends with an ability to both drive the effectiveness of existing benefit plans and research and recommend future plan revisions and programs to management that are consistent with market trends, corporate objectives, compensation philosophy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in directing the processing of benefit claims, providing guidance to employees, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids, awarding benefit contracts, and designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Able to maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Experience in the recruiting and hiring process including creating job descriptions, salary research and analysis to establish salary bands, and department organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all health and welfare benefit programs which includes the research, evaluation, and administration of medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, COBRA etc. and voluntary fringe benefits. Examines possible plan designs and benefits cost changes. Serves as point of contact for brokers involved in the process, management team, and employees.
  • Implements career growth plans that align with strategic short- and long-term strategy, employee engagement and client service goals; and improves employee satisfaction and engagement by identifying and responding to employee concerns.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by counseling and training managers to effectively lead and motivate employees. This includes establishing performance review guidelines and timeframes, facilitating conferences with employees, and providing direction on how to conduct clear communication to hear and resolve employee grievances.
  • Works with management team to create and enhance career growth plans, providing a unique and inside perspective to senior management.
  • Assists in the development of people-management skills and provides an objective perspective on employee issues.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of departments while remaining compliant. Specific areas include sexual harassment and discrimination training for both management and employees.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Conducts new-hire orientation, and other company sponsored training programs as needed.
