People and Benefits Manager


Veracross is seeking an experienced people and benefits manager to join our team. This person will report to the president and be responsible for improving benefits administration, promoting personal and professional growth, establishing policies and procedures, and maintaining compliance to ultimately support the company’s strategy, objectives, and culture. The people and benefits manager will partner with the management team in the continued profitable growth of the company.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in human resources administration within the technology sector. Must have experience working with or reporting to C-level executives. Bonus points for those with experience in software companies with fewer than 500 employees that are growing from small to midsize.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration, compensation strategy, performance management, employee relations, and safety practices; and the ability to apply this information in a manner that is compliant with relevant employment law.
  • Proven experience in assessing benefits needs and trends.
  • Can effectively manage existing benefits plans and research/recommend revisions and new programs to management that are consistent with market trends, corporate objectives, compensation philosophy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled at processing benefits claims, providing guidance to employees, obtaining and evaluating benefits contract bids, awarding benefits contracts, and designing and conducting benefits educational programs.
  • Has maintained management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Experience in the recruiting and hiring process including creating job descriptions, salary research and analysis, and department organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all health and welfare benefits programs which includes the research, evaluation, and administration of medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, COBRA, etc., and voluntary fringe benefits. Examines possible plan designs and benefits cost changes. Serves as point of contact for brokers involved in the process, management team, and employees.
  • Works with management team to create and enhance career growth plans, providing a unique perspective to senior management.
  • Implements career growth plans that align with strategic short- and long-term strategy, employee engagement, and client service goals; and improves employee satisfaction and engagement by identifying and responding to employee concerns.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by counseling and training managers to effectively lead and motivate employees. This includes establishing performance review guidelines and timeframes, facilitating conferences with employees, and providing direction on how to conduct clear communication to hear and resolve employee grievances.
  • Assists in the development of people management skills and provides an objective perspective on employee issues and conflicts.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of departments while remaining compliant with relevant laws. Specific areas include sexual harassment and discrimination training for both management and employees.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state human resource requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
  • Conducts new-hire orientation and other company-sponsored training programs as needed.
