Heads of School or senior administrators in independent schools must often guide their constituencies through complex decision making processes that will have long-term implications for the community. Historically, some of these impactful policy decisions have been based largely on the anecdotal experience of faculty, parents/guardians, and/or students with mixed success. In this session, learn how school leaders are successfully building institutional research programs to help supplement decision-making processes with actionable and insightful data analysis. We will take a look at two specific case studies involving the use of standardized test scores in the admissions process and the adoption of equitable grading practices to see how institutional research can inform policy development. We will then look at different models for how school leaders successfully launch and support institutional research programs.
