Account Manager (Accounting Systems)


Role Summary

The Account Manager is the primary point of contact for Veracross Accounting System clients. The Account Manager provides well-informed, strategic leadership to his/her clients, builds strong, long-term client relationships, and acts as a crucial link between internal engineering teams and product users. This individual applies his/her mastery of the product to the vision and unique needs of the client in order to develop and implement software solutions that meet the immediate and long-term needs of the customer.

What You Will Be Doing

Project Management:
  • Ownership – Manages various-sized accounts in an autonomous manner. Acts as a lead contact with clients and manages workload from inception to completion in partnership with a team engineer.
  • Project Logistics – Works with clients to establish project focus and timelines, ensures that all necessary parties are involved and that project details are effectively communicated, tracked, scheduled, and managed.
  • Routine Maintenance – Facilitates ongoing communication of the status of each project or problem with all team partners and with the client; anticipates glitches and seeks to resolve technical issues affecting client relations.
  • Task Management – Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and ensures that each job is prioritized, on budget, and on schedule.
Client Relationship Management:
  • Interfaces effectively with clients in a manner that promotes trust, attentiveness, competence and successful long-term relationships.
  • Utilizes listening skills to fully elicit client goals; ensures that all technical work is based on sound logic and thorough understanding of a school’s needs.
  • Collaborates with the engineer to present strategic creative ideas to the client.
Technical Proficiency
  • Expertly guides the client through the software learning curve. Anticipates areas of fit as well as potential concerns. Troubleshoots system glitches with clients.
  • Effectively filters communication between school contacts and engineers. Delivers clear and concise information to engineers, translating client issues into technical language and/or specifications.
  • Tracks all data generated from each job and makes sure it is up-to-date and complete in order to facilitate timely client billing.

Requirements

In order to fully perform the above functions, the incumbent must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities, or demonstrate that the major responsibilities of the job can be accomplished, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities.

Education & Experience:
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college in liberal arts, accounting, business administration, or information technology.
  • (Required) A significant amount of course work in Accounting-related subjects with a solid understanding of the fundamental accounting equation; the general journal; the chart of accounts; General Ledger reporting (Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Statements); fiscal period and fiscal year closing; budgeting; reconciliations; and sub-ledger processing (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Processing, Purchases Journal, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting).
  • (Strongly Desired) Experience working with a robust Accounting software system.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated skill in relationship-building through work or internship experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for using, teaching, and communicating information involving technologically sophisticated software and Accounting processes.
  • Must possess communication skills that allow for effective dialog with varied client personnel (i.e. staff accountants, Controller, CFO).
  • Ability to work autonomously, make independent decisions and lead a project. o Must be organized, efficient and have great attention to detail. Solid understanding of client support/customer service.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 30 days per year (15-20 days is typical).
